W'HAPPEN??????






Photography in the UK got 'real' in the 90's. these are a selection of images from W'happen, a collection of work from up and coming artists, stylists and photographers at the time, influencing editorial and advertising through the decade, others went on to big things(E.Constantine, J.Teller, D.Sims), others, well, didn't. What is striking looking at these though is how dated they seem now. Of a time.

I WANT MY DADA.







In 1943 Denver born NYC based modernist designer Alvin Lustig heralded the death of painting and art as he knew it. To be replaced by design. A bold statement, and of course, shite. However his book jackets for New Directions classics between 1946-48 were so different, and so new, you maybe can see where he was coming from.

Glen Denny's Yosemite In The 60's.

A collection of images of a group of climbers and hikers in Yosemite National park shot over the 1960's. These beatniks invented and/or perfected the practices and processes used when rock climbing. Camping in the park all year round, Denny shot them as they where.

Rugged and charming.

George probably didn't appreciate what a gem he had? Overlooking the Channel on one side with the opposite facing Sandbanks bay. 
Modernist style situated in the UK's luxury hot spot.
And to think, the locals are intending having it took down so they can put a 'new build' in it's place.
